Philosophy

Our philosophy is to provide all families with quality care, in a friendly, warm atmosphere as though you were our family member. We endeavor to provide this orthodontic care in an efficient, timely, and professional manner to achieve a healthy, beautiful smile.

Policies

  • Each patient’s orthodontic needs are different. Appointments vary from 4-8 weeks between visits.

  • Our office hours are from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday through Wednesday in the Athens office and 8:45 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. each Thursday in our Commerce office.

  • We request a 48-hour notice if you need to cancel or change an appointment. This is so we can offer this time to another patient.

  • If you break or loosen any of your appliances, call our office as soon as possible. Please do not come directly to the office. By calling us, you will allow us to create a time to see you. Even if you have a regular appointment scheduled, call us immediately to notify us if you need an appliance repaired. If you have an emergency after hours, on a weekend or on a holiday, please call our office immediately and follow the instructions on the answering machine. There are several contact numbers for Dr. Jones and you can leave a detailed message with a call back number. Dr. Jones will return your call to assist you.

  • Lack of cooperation by the patient, such as improper brushing and flossing, failure to change elastic bands at least once a day, and excessively breaking brackets and/or appliances, can lengthen treatment time and incur additional charges. Constantly missing appointments can also prolong treatment. Without the proper care and supervision from an orthodontist, braces may cause permanent damage. Patient compliance is essential to prevent damage to the teeth and gums.

  • A cleaning, along with any necessary fillings should be completed prior to braces placement. You must continue to see your general dentist for six-month check-ups, which should include a thorough examination of the gum tissue.

  • Please brush your teeth before each appointment. You may do this at our toothbrush station in the office, where we provide toothbrushes and fluoride toothpaste for your convenience.

Our Office

During active orthodontic treatment, patients are seen on a regular schedule. The majority of our patients are school based, and every effort is made by our office to ensure that the patient misses the least amount of school. The few long appointments necessary for the patient and treatment are scheduled during morning hours. Regular appointments, which are 20-30 minutes in length, alternate between morning and afternoons to avoid missing the same class repeatedly.

Please arrive five minutes before your appointment. This will give you enough time to check in on our computer and brush your teeth!

We make every effort to stay on schedule and trust that you will extend the same courtesy to us by arriving on time. If you cannot keep your appointment, please call us 48 hours in advance, so that we can schedule another patient. Please only cancel if you have an emergency. Because our appointments are scheduled weeks ahead, it can be difficult rescheduling you quickly. However, we will try to reschedule at the earliest, most convenient time for everyone.

All State and Federal OSHA, as well as CDC regulations are strictly adhered to by Gary Jones Orthodontics. We use steam autoclave sterilization standards.

Late Arrivals and Rescheduled Appointments

We are aware that unforeseen events may cause you to reschedule or simply overlook your appointment. Each appointment throughout the treatment phase is essential to ensure the success of your outcome. If you cannot keep your appointment, please contact us as soon as possible to reschedule. We will offer you the first available appointment. Please remember that missed appointments may prolong your treatment time.

Because each procedure takes a certain amount of time, arriving late can affect our schedule and other patients. If you realize that you may be late, please call us so that we can make the necessary adjustments. If the schedule permits we will make every effort to accommodate you or a new appointment may be necessary.
